CALL TO CONVENTION

 No Image                            Tennessee

                 Federation of Democratic Women

                               Call To Convention

I, Sonja Fox, President of the Tennessee Federation of Democratic Women, pursuant to Article VI, Section 5 and Article VII, Section 1, giving me the authority to do so, issue the 53rd Annual Call to Convention.

“A New Era of Responsibility”

Tennessee Federation of Democratic Women

53rd Annual Convention

April 16-17, 2010

Franklin, Tennessee

Our Convention’s theme, “A New Era of Responsibility,” was taken from the call to action President Obama issued on Inauguration Day.

“Our challenges may be new. The instruments with which we meet them may be new. But those values upon which our success depends -- hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism -- these things are old. These things are true. They have been the quiet force of progress throughout our history. What is demanded then is a return to these truths. What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility (emphasis added) -- a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation and the world; duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task.”

During the Convention, we will listen to each other recount the ways we have been fulfilling our civic responsibilities in our counties, state, and country.  We also will encourage each other, as individuals and as a group, to find new ways to be involved in politics and improve our communities. As you know, this is an election year and our participation is vital.  So, at Convention, we will get busy making plans and raising money to get Democrats elected at every level. But we will also have time for a lot of fun and I, along with our hosts from Williamson County and all of middle Tennessee, hope you will join us.

I look forward to seeing you at Convention!

Sincerely,

Sonja Fox

President, Tennessee Federation of Democratic Women

TFDW Convention Information

The Democratic women of Middle Tennessee are excited to welcome the Tennessee Federation of Democratic Women to Franklin, April 16-17, for the 53rd Annual Convention.

Our Convention’s theme, “A New Era of Responsibility,” was taken from the call to action President Obama issued on Inauguration Day.  During the Convention, we will listen to each other recount the ways we have been fulfilling our civic responsibilities in our counties, state, and country.  We also will encourage each other, as individuals and as a group, to find new ways to be involved in politics and improve our communities.

We will also have time for a lot of fun.

On Friday night we have planned a game night. We will have cards, dice, and board games; but we will also set up an arcade with three large screens and gaming systems for those who want play Wii.  If friendly competition isn’t your style, the women of Wilson County will staff a hospitality suite where you can visit with friends – old and new – and find something to eat and drink. And if friendly conversation isn’t your style, our hotel is located in Cool Springs, one of the best shopping centers in the whole state!
